Calling Cadence is made up of Oscar Bugarin and Rae Cole, with accompaniment by a wrecking crew of musicians that create the foundation of the Los Angeles music scene. Oscar and Rae met while singing back up vocals and quickly found a spark as they started writing and singing together. Shortly after forming Calling Cadence they caught the attention of hi-res records co-founder David Swartz who promptly signed them and began working on their debut record with producer Matt Linesch at Infinitespin Studio.

The now complete album was recorded entirely to analog 2” tape without the use a computer at all. The record was mixed analog to tape and pressed to vinyl from tape by legendary mastering engineer Kevin Gray. For streaming, the mixes were converted to digital and mastered by Reuben Cohen at Lurssen Mastering.

The decision to work completely analog was a choice that was perfectly suited for all of those involved and produced an album unlike anything you’ll hear today. Working analog meant that tools like time correction, tuning and doing endless takes were not an option. Instead, Oscar and Rae, the musicians, the producer, and the engineers all had to show up perform flawlessly. The result is a modern classic. It has all the warmth and depth of the 70s, and the punch and clarity of today.

Good Day is the second release from Calling Cadence. This engaging dance-funk track is one to turn up loud. Calling Cadence is spreading their wings with this track, showing a different side to their talents, and just the beginning of their diverse musicianship.

“It’s about as “how-they-used-to-do-it” as you could get, and you can tell.  It’s warm, it’s punchy, it has a vibe, it feels alive”
